Osteopathy for Sciatica
Sciatica refers to pain that results from compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve runs from your lower back, into the buttocks and descends down the back of both legs to the feet. Sciatica can be caused by;
- slipped or herniated disc
- changes to the spine caused by age
- spinal ligament changes
- bone diseases e.g. Paget's disease
Osteopathy aims to reduce pain by targeting tension points in the buttock muscles, the hamstrings and the calf muscles.
