Repetitive strain injuries
Osteopathy for Repetitive strain injuries e.g. Tennis/Golfers elbow, Carpal tunnel syndrome
Repetitive strain injuries result from repeated or overuse of a particular muscle group. Everyday examples of this include;
- Tennis elbow or Lateral epicondylitis which is caused by inflammation of the tendons attached to the elbow
- Less common is golfers elbow or medial epicondylitis, which affects the muscles on the opposite side of the forearm
- Carpal Tunnel syndrome is caused by compression of the median nerve at the wrist. This is often associated with people who have desk based jobs but there are also many other causes
Osteopathic treatment helps manage the pain and aims to maintain function to prevent future mechanical problems.
